If you didn’t get to see Battlestar Galactica during it’s run from 2004-2009, you should check it out now, during our Covid19 lockdown where you’ve probably exhausted your supply of good entertainment to watch. How many times can you re-watch the Tiger King really? This show is different from the 1978 show that was pre-empted by President Carter’s Camp David Accord announcement of peace between Egypt and Israel. This 2000’s version is grittier and only maintains some of the names and mythology of it’s predecessor as a reboot of the original.
When it was on, Battlestar Galactica was one of the best shows on television. If you are a science fiction fan, you should watch it. If you are not a science fiction fan you should watch it. While it is based in a fictional twelve colonies of humanity fighting against an enemy they created it isn’t the bug eyed alien type of science fiction and is rather more about the human condition where humanity is fighting against their former slaves, a race of cybernetic beings who are called the Cylons. The Cylons have done their best to replicate humanity in look and form but they follow a single deity while the humans follow multiple deities. Starting with the two episodes mini-series that kicked it off, all of the seasons of the show can be found here.
